Lookin' Good!

Here are some before and after shots of the exterior of our house. Joe and I took a break from toiling on the basement bathroom remodel to stand outside in the 95+ degree heat to paint. Thank goodness most of our house is brick. Painting the trim, gables, garage and shed was enough for me. I think Joe and I have agreed that paying someone else to get ridiculously sunburned and lightheaded from sun and fumes is well worth it next time. One could suggest one just not paint in such heat, but then one wouldn't get any painting done--not this summer in CO, anyway. I had a hard time painting anything that required two brush strokes, because the paint dried so quickly. On the other hand, getting two coats of paint on was darn easy. No waiting!

All the work was worth it, though. We were really surprised at what a difference just the red trim made on the appearance of the house. I'd almost classify it in the cute category, now! Once the plants in the front actually start growing (provided they survive the dry, crispy stage they're currently in from all this heat and no rain), I'd say we'll be well into the cute category. We also have plans to add one more tree in the front corner. Maybe with a little extra shade the dry, crispy stage won't last so long for our plants and "grass." (Can you call it grass when it hasn't been green in two months?) Hmm, speaking of, I'd better head out to water those plants again...
