A few weeks ago Joe decided to invest in a new toy: a 1976 Bronco. Not exactly a car for driving around the city, but something we can take 4-wheeling in the mountains, and use to get away from the crowds and go camping in the national forests. We've had a little trouble getting it to pass the Denver emissions tests (it's failed twice now), so we still don't have plates or registration (you have to pass to register your vehicle). But it's scheduled for a tune-up on Monday, so hopefully that will do the trick.
We actually got pulled over driving it last Sunday. We were trying to burn a tank of gas, because Joe had put some fuel additive in it that was supposed to help clean out the system and help us meet the emission standard. But the lack of plates is pretty darn obvious, and a cop pulled us over on a street north of Denver. He was fairly understanding, since we really didn't have too many options, but he told us to turn around and head back to Denver. I'm not sure why driving without registration is better in Denver than in Westminster, but as long as he was letting us off without a ticket, we were happy to oblige.
