This is an eye shadow set that I got as a Christmas or birthday present when I was about nine. It was the first makeup item I ever owned. I think some assortment of lip gloss came with it. The lip gloss is long gone, but for some reason, I have packed up and moved this eye shadow set a minimum of eleven times, one of which was halfway across the country. I guess I can no longer proudly claim to be a purger when it comes to sorting through old stuff. The strangest part is that I don't really wear makeup, particularly not blue and turquoise eye shadow. This set has lasted me twenty years and obviously has ample supply left in its case. In all those other moves I must have succumbed to nostalgia and decided to keep it. At this point, I almost wonder if I should keep it and pass it on to my own daughter, though I don't think blue and turquoise eye shadow would really be setting her up for greatness. Alas, I think this eye shadow set has finally reached the end of its road.

Beauty Supplies?
Tonight I tackled the packing up of our "medicine closet," which consisted of two drawers in a built in cabinet that was sort of near the bathroom, and therefore seemed to qualify as a good place for things like decongestant, nail polish, many tubes of sunblock, extra toothbrushes, travel shampoo bottles, etc. This is the kind of stuff that can accumulate in shocking quantities if you're not careful. One day you're trying desperately to find some extra shampoo and the next day you've got thirteen bottles with a half-inch of shampoo in them filling up your drawer. I've been pretty good through the years about sorting through this stuff periodically and tossing stuff that hasn't been used. Tonight, however, way in the back of a drawer under a travel bag stuffed with cotton balls, I found this:
